Relationships

Communication with family and friends can be a challenge at times, especially if you are already dealing with a mental health illness.  A licensed professional counselor can assist you to identify the barriers of communication so you can have heathy relationships with friends and loved ones.

What Is Counseling?

The process of talking about your needs and concerns with a professional counselor that allows you to have clarification about what you want out of life and the reasons why you may be stuck.  Sometimes there are events that cause us to derail from our goals and plans for our life.  A counselor allows you to identify those barriers and assists you to create the changes you need so you can get back to living the life you have dreamed.

Who Is Counseling For?

Counseling is for the young and young at heart.  Anyone with a problem that has been affecting their daily function.  Anyone with questions about the direction of their lives.  Anyone with stress, sadness, excessive worrying, traumatic memories, unmanageable anger, unresolved grief, difficulties at work or school, and relationship conflicts.  Anyone that just wants to talk to someone in order to clarify their needs, goals, and dreams. Anyone interested in living a healthier, more fulfilling life.

What is The Process Like?

The most difficult step is deciding to seek help.  Once you decide to get the help you deserve, all you have to do is make the call.  Taking care of your mental health is as important as taking care of you physical health.   Depression, Anxiety, Addiction, as well as other mental health problems are illnesses that need to be treated, just as you would treat heart disease or Diabetes.    Without the proper treatment the illness will only get worst.

About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor that received a Master’s in Counseling from Louisiana Tech University in 1999.

I have worked in hospitals, outpatient programs, and schools.  I have worked with a variety of age groups and a variety of mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, stress, relationship struggles, and parenting issues.

I believe in counseling and believe that everyone can heal.  I believe that each and everyone, regardless of the circumstances, can create a change in their life.  We all have the innate ability to change for the better each day.  Change is a process that takes time and effort.  Change requires a desire for change. Change begins with the first step toward change; sometimes that step is a phone call to a therapist like me to ask for help.
